Air Transport
Melbourne Airport (Tullamarine)
The road travel time between Kyneton and Melbourne Airport at Tullamarine is around 40 minutes (other than morning peak). For air travellers not wishing to leave their cars at the Melbourne Airport, a bus shuttle operating between Bendigo and the Airport stops in Kyneton 4 times per weekday (except Christmas Day) and 3 times per weekend day. Pick up point is the Jean Haynes Park in High St.

Kyneton Airfield 
Kyneton Airfield is just out of town on Metcalfe Road. It is operated by the Kyneton Aero Club on behalf of the Council. The Airfield currently has 21 private hangars housing 35 planes and the hangar area is expanding.
Kyneton Aero Club has more than 100 members with a wide range of backgrounds. The club offers flying lessons. It meets on the 3rd Monday at 8pm at the Aero Clubrooms at Airfield. Contact is Mike Bourke 54226626.
Road Transport
Car
Kyneton is often described as an hour from anywhere. With the Calder Highway completely duplicated between Melbourne and Kyneton it takes 55 minutes off peak to reach Melbourne CBD. Much of the Calder between Kyneton and Bendigo is now duplicated Freeway and this journey takes 50 minutes. Ballarat by road is 60 minutes and Geelong 80 minutes.

Buses
Other than for schools, scheduled bus services for Kyneton and District are somewhat limited but some services are available:-
Kyneton township Bus Service: On Thursdays only, Organs operates a service which travels and picks up passengers throughout the Kyneton township visiting the shopping centre and Senior Citizens Club. It commences at 10.30am and leaves from St Mary’s Hall at 4.30pm. For information or to arrange pick up ph Organs 54221788.
Malmsbury-Kyneton Bus Service (Thursday only): Organs Bus Lines operates this service which leaves Malmsbury at 11.43am and arrives in Kyneton at 11.55am. The return journey departs Kyneton at 3pm and arrives in Malmsbury at 3.10pm.

Tylden
A VLine bus service links Tylden to the Woodend Railway Station and to Daylesford. The Buses stop on the Tylden-Woodend Road near the Tylden General Store.
On weekdays buses to the Woodend Station connecting to Melbourne bound trains depart the Tylden boarding point at 8.16am and 5.41pm.
Weekday buses from the Woodend Station stop at Tylden at 9.16am and 6.21pm.
On Saturdays buses from Tylden to Woodend depart at 10.16am and 6.01pm. Saturday reverse direction buses arrive in Tylden at 10.41am and 6.56pm.
There is only one bus each way on Sundays. 10.16am is the departure time from Tylden to Woodend and 11.01 am is the reverse direction arrival time.
School Buses:
Children are entitled to free transport to their nearest public school if it is more than 4.8km from their home. Services may be available to attend other schools. Schools will be able to provide further information and organise a child’s addition to a bus list, their pick up point and timetable.
Young people aged 15 to 24 who are undertaking further education or training may also be able to catch a school bus if there is enough space. They should contact the bus coordinator at Kyneton Secondary College (54211100) to explore the possibility.
Kyneton –Bendigo Bus
Dyson’s Kyneton Bus Lines operates a service between Kyneton and Bendigo Monday to Friday (school days only) leaving the Kyneton Post Office at 7.15am and Malmsbury at 7.25am. The bus departs Bendigo on the return journey at 3.35pm. Enquiries Dysons 54221634
Hiring Buses: Small self-drive buses are available for hire from the local bus companies – Organs 54221788 (32 Yaldwyn St West) and Dyson’s 54221634 (22 Bourke St). Larger buses with driver may also be chartered.

Station Locations
Kyneton Station is situated at the Southern end of Mollison St about 10 minutes walk from the town centre. The car park has recently been extended and sufficient spaces currently exist to accommodate all commuters’ vehicles.
Malmsbury Station is situated in Daylesford Rd Malmsbury.

Kyneton-Melbourne
Kyneton and Malmsbury are on the Melbourne-Bendigo rail line. Under the revised timetable commencing 27 April 2008 eighteen VLine trains leave Kyneton each weekday for Melbourne – the first at 5.18am and the last at 9.31pm. Twenty weekday trains from Melbourne stop at Kyneton with an additional late night train on Friday nights. The earliest weekday train from Melbourne leaves Southern Cross at 6.13am and the last train at 10.15pm except for Fridays when an additional late train leaves at 11.45pm.
On Saturdays there are 13 trains from Kyneton to Melbourne, the earliest leaving at 6.37am and the latest at 9.23pm. The earliest of the 15 Saturday trains from Melbourne through Kyneton leaves Southern Cross at 7.15am and the latest at 11.45pm.
There are 12 Sunday trains from Kyneton to Melbourne, the first at 8.37am and the latest at 9.21pm. Twelve trains also exit Melbourne and stop at Kyneton on Sundays – the earliest leaves at 8.35am and the latest at 10.15pm.

Kyneton-Bendigo
The weekday 7.31am train from Kyneton to Bendigo arrives in Bendigo at 8.15am and is met by buses which not only take passengers to the centre of town but also to the TAFE College and Bendigo University free of charge. Sixteen trains from Bendigo stop at Kyneton each day.
Malmsbury-Melbourne Ten weekday trains from Bendigo stop at Malmsbury each day, the earliest at 5.49am and the latest at 9.15pm. Trains from Melbourne stop at Malmsbury 11 times each day the earliest leaving Melbourne at 6.15am and the latest at 10.15pm.
Malmsbury-Bendigo: The earliest morning train stops at Malmsbury at 7.37am and arrives at 8.15 am.
