Calendar of Events
A calendar of events for the entire Kyneton district is on display in the window of the Mollison Street Shire Office Extension nearest the Post Office and on Kyneton’s community Website www.kyneton.org.au . It is updated monthly. Kyneton Connections prepares the calendar and events can be added by emailing eandmcot@netcon.net.au or phoning 54222990.

Private use:
· ADSL (wired broadband) is available in Kyneton to approximately 4km from the exchange in Beauchamp Street.
· Wireless broadband is available in Kyneton via Telstra’s Next G network although service in some areas is patchy.
· Some service providers (eg. Westnet) provide subsidised satellite connection to eligible people who cannot get ADSL broadband or ISDN.
· Dial-up internet is available on any phone line.

Local Newspapers and Community Newsletters
Kyneton & District is serviced by 3 free local weekly newspapers, one weekly local newspaper, a bimonthly Kyneton & District community newsletter and a monthly Malmsbury community newsletter.
Free weekly newspapers: Each comes out on a Tuesday but home delivery, where it occurs, could be on the Tuesday or Wednesday.
Midland Express – The Express, published by Elliott Midland Newspapers covers events in both the Macedon Ranges and Mount Alexander Shires and is distributed throughout those Shires. The Express is viewed as Kyneton & District’s main local paper. Its office is at 3 Market Street Kyneton ph 54221488.
Macedon Ranges Telegraph: The Telegraph, a Fairfax paper, covers events in the Macedon Ranges Shire and Sunbury. Its editorial centre is in Gisborne ph 54209777. The Telegraph is home delivered in the Kyneton township and can be collected free from Collins Newsagency.
Macedon Ranges Leader: The Leader covers events in the Macedon Ranges Shire and Sunbury. Its editorial centre is in Sunbury ph 97449333. In Kyneton township the Leader is home delivered. It can be collected free from Collins.
Weekly Paper
The Macedon Ranges Guardian comes out each Friday and covers events in the Macedon Ranges Shire and nearby towns. In Kyneton it costs $1.20. As with the Express it is published by Elliott Midland Newspapers ph 54221488.
Kyneton Community Newsletter

Kyneton Connect covers news not usually in the mainstream local press and to gives local community groups a means of reporting their activities and events. Published by Kyneton Connections, it is delivered free in Kyneton township and many RSDs on the 3rd Thurs of every even month. It can be collected free from Collins, sub-newsagents and the Station. Malmsbury Community Newsletter
Malmsbury Mail is published at the start of each month and covers the news of Malmsbury and Drummond and is distributed free to residents of those areas. Macedon Ranges Shire Family Newsletter
Published at the start of each school term this newsletter contains information for parents, children and families. It is a joint initiative of Cobaw Community Health Service and the Macedon Ranges Shire Council. Editor is Julie Cairns 54211625 or by email at Julie.cairns@cobaw.vic.gov.au.

Kyneton Community Events Noticeboard
A Community Events Noticeboard is located in Mollison St in front of the ramp near the Post Office. The Noticeboard is managed by Kyneton Connections. Groups wishing to have their notices placed on the board drop them at Aesops Attic or Cobaw Community Health in High St.
Other noticeboards are located in the Library, IGA & Safeway Supermarkets. Many shops are agreeable to posting community notices in their windows.
Malmsbury:
The Malmsbury noticeboard is located outside the Malmsbury General Store.
Tylden
Tylden’s noticeboard is outside the Tylden General Store.
Postal Services
Mail Delivery:
Kyneton township and those places outside the townships which have a Road Side Delivery Service have mail delivered to their homes every weekday (other than public holidays). Residents of Malmsbury township, Tylden township and properties that do not have a road side delivery service can collect there mail at their nearest Post Office during business hours or pay for a Post Office Box at their Post Office which give 24hr access to mail.
Road Side Deliveries:
Many areas outside the townships have a roadside delivery service but some do not. Outlying residences without a RSD service may request an extension of the service to their area and Australia Post may grant it if there is sufficient demand.

Mail posted prior to the clearance time is expected to achieve next working day delivery in the metropolitan area and major Victorian country towns. Other Victorian areas have a 2 working day expectation.

All major Melbourne AM and FM can be received clearly in Kyneton.
Local Community FM Radio
Central Highlands FM 101.7 is the community station which serves the Macedon Ranges. The Station is located in the Woodend Community Centre and aims to provide information and programs relevant to each of the areas in the Shire. Volunteers from across the Shire including several from Kyneton prepare and present material and programs.

Free to Air
Kyneton gets good television reception from all of the Bendigo and all of the Melbourne Channels. Most choose to view the Bendigo Channels as the programs are effectively the same and the reception is better.
All 5 Channels are available: ABC, SBS, 7 (Prime), 9 (WIN), 10 (Southern Cross). WIN has half an hour of Central Victorian News which does have a bit of Kyneton news at 6.30pm each week nights
Pay TV
Kyneton residents wanting pay TV organise it through Auststar and have a satellite dish on their roof to receive the signal. Austar’s number is 1300730421 and web www.austar.com.au

Macedon Ranges Shire Council Website
The Shire website www.macedon-ranges.vic.gov.au contains a wealth of information for residents of the shire especially that relating to Council services. Work is being done to bolster the family section and parents in particular are encouraged to use this site to search for information.
