Another form of volunteering is to assist organisations like the Macedon Ranges Shire and Cobaw Community Health deliver services. Some of these are following.
Parent Buddies – Volunteer Home Visiting Program
Cobaw coordinates this program where trained volunteers visit local families with young children and offer practical support and mentoring. The benefits are reducing social isolation and stresses associated with parenting young children, helping families get out and about, building support networks and meeting new people, staying active and involved. Anyone wishing to participate in the program as a volunteer or as a family should contact Henni Wade at Cobaw on 54211631.
Visiting people who live alone and are isolated – Social Support service
The Macedon Ranges Shire Council manages this service. Volunteers provide:
regular friendly home visits, telephone contact, library book exchange, assistance with access to transport services, occasional social outings, short term in-home respite, and help with small tasks.
Social support volunteers help frail older people and people with a disability.
For further information contact the Council’s Aged and Disability Unit via 54220333.

Kyneton has many groups and individuals who walk on a regular basis but for people wishing to take in fascinating aspects of the Kyneton district three walks stand out:
Black Hill Reserve: The Reserve which is found by travelling along Edgecombe Rd and turning right up Ennis Rd has outstanding walking tracks through unique areas of bushland and boulders and featuring native fauna and flora.
The Bourke Street Walk which starts at the Visitor Information Centre at finishes at Caroline Chisholm Drive is incorporated in many of treks taken by seasoned walkers.
Campaspe River Walk: Starts at the Kyneton Botanical Gardens and follows the Campaspe River to the Piper Street Bridge and on towards the Racecourse.
Lauriston Reservoir and the Malmsbury Botanic Gardens also offer scenic walks.
