Local vineyards also offer the opportunity to sample and purchase the highly regarded local wines at the cellar door.

History

Some of the finest historic bluestone buildings in Victoria are a main feature of the town. These date back to the Gold-Rush era when Kyneton was a major supply town for the diggings. Walking maps for walks to explore these outstanding buildings can be obtained from the Kyneton Visitor information Centre.

Nature Based Attractions

The Kyneton Botanic Gardens, Campaspe River and Black Hill are all close by for a picnic or a for undertaking excellent walks. Deciduous trees are ablaze in Autumn, silent and silhouetted in winter, green and vibrant in Spring and wonderful shade in summer. Proximity to nature-based attractions at Hanging Rock, Mt Macedon, Malmsbury Trentham and Daylesford add to the town’s appeal as a base for Central Victorian touring.

Shopping, Business and Employment

Art galleries, home furnishing, craft, books, nurseries, gifts, food, wine, clothing, and a myriad of other businesses service the area providing a rewarding experience for visitors and locals alike. A significant business park is being developed in the North of the town in Saleyards Rd Kyneton for businesses, factories and warehouses conveniently located adjacent to the Calder Freeway and adding to local employment opportunities.

Special Events

In September the renowned Kyneton Daffodil and Arts Festival has 10 days of events to suit all tastes and regular race meetings at the Kyneton Racecourse throughout the year including the 'Kyneton Cup' provide a great outing.
